A maize sheller (corn thresher) removes dried maize grains from the cob quickly and with little breakage. Cobs are fed into the hopper, a rotating beater drum strips the grain, and the grain and empty cobs leave through separate outlets while a fan blows off chaff.
It is used across Nigeria by maize farmers, cooperatives, grain aggregators, poultry farms and feed millers who need to shell large quantities after harvest. It replaces slow hand shelling and reduces labour costs at peak season.
Weigh shelled maize accurately for sale or storage with a Kira Scales platform scale or floor scale, and check grain moisture with a grain moisture meter before bagging.
