Grain Intake Hopper Scale – 1 to 5 Tonne Batch Weigher

A grain intake hopper scale weighs bulk grain in batches as it is received or moved into storage. The steel hopper hangs on or sits on load cells; grain is fed in, the batch weight is recorded, then the discharge gate opens to empty it onto a conveyor, elevator or into a silo. Totals are added up automatically.

In Nigeria hopper scales are used at maize, sorghum, soybean, rice paddy and wheat intake points, feed and flour mills, breweries, commodity warehouses and aggregation centres. They suit sites that receive grain loose rather than in bags, and work alongside a weighbridge to check truck deliveries.
