A cement weigh hopper is the weighing heart of a concrete batching plant. Cement is fed from the silo by screw conveyor into a suspended or supported steel hopper fitted with load cells, and the indicator or batch controller stops the feed once the target weight is reached, before the hopper discharges into the mixer.

In Nigeria, weigh hoppers are used by ready-mix concrete producers, block and paving-stone factories, precast yards and contractors upgrading older plants where cement is still measured by the bag. Accurate cement dosing protects concrete strength and cuts cement wastage, which is usually the most expensive ingredient in every batch.
